Washington Track & Field Academy

Summer 2023

Mission: The Washington Track & Field Academy was founded to meet the needs of youth track and field athletes in our community and athletes committed to standards of excellence and improvement.

Focus: Our club focuses on the sprints and hurdles (Coach Frey) and the throws (Coach Treich). While there may be opportunities for work in other events, like the jumps, that is not our primary focus and athletes may want to consider finding a club that better meets their needs in other events (we can recommend other clubs). With our small coaching staff, we are also focused on athletes in the 13-14 age group and older (high school and junior high aged students).

Timeline: We will practice weekly on Tuesday and Thursdays beginning June 6th. Practices will begin at 3:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays through June 22nd (we can be flexible for athletes traveling to practice). Following that, practices will be in the mornings beginning at 9AM. Practice time windows will vary based on days and event group (Ex. We may ask the hurdlers to report at 3:15 and sprinters to report at 4:15). These decisions will be based on athletes and coaching needs; coaches may adjust practice times, cancel, or add practices based on personal schedules and athlete needs. We plan to hold practices until July 20. All practices will be held at Emerald Ridge High School.

Cost:

·       Emerald Ridge Athletes: $85 (Covers basic uniform top, entry to WATF Academy Meet, club costs

·       Non-Emerald Ridge Athletes: $275 (Covers basic uniform top, entry to WATF Academy Meet, club costs).
